Broadband and Diabetes in Rural America . According to the CDC, over 29 million Americans have diabetes, a chronic disease gateway to other health conditions. This map shows broadband access levels in counties where the majority of the population is rural and diabetes is greater than the national average. (Yellow areas have comparatively lower broadband access rates than blue.) Many rural communities with the highest diabetes prevalence also have the lowest broadband access. The inset map shows broadband access levels in urban communities where diabetes is greater than the national average. These two maps help visualize the rural / urban broadband gap.

Diabetes Prevention Program Consortium
Comunidad Saludable de la Montaña is a non-profit organization directed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the implementation of the National Diabetes Prevention Program in Puerto Rico.
The Diabetes Prevention, promoted through public policy of the amendment of bill 4124 known as the Diabetes Prevention Act.
Within these public policies of the National Institutes of Health is the promotion of the Public-Private consortium to achieve the establishment of the program, the function of each person in the consortium is to promote, distribute and educate the population about the style change program of life.
An integration of the private, public and governmental sectors is required, but especially in communities where there is a need due to the scarce services and the economic incapacity of citizens for the treatment of this kind of services in Puerto Rico.
